Bring a dozen donuts with you every time you go down to the probate court. Treat the people working behind the counter like they're your friends.

Most people who work in courts spend their days to getting yelled at. They'll love you. Pretty soon you'll be getting phone calls when they come across a property you'd like.

I almost responded with a Chuck Norres joke, but down that road lies madness.

Ending a price in 7 converts better. Ending a price in 5 makes it look arbitrary. Once you hit a 0 at the end you've crossed a psychological barrier into a new price point and your sales will drop.

Numbers ending in 7 aren't easily divisible so marks (I mean customers) assume you carefully calculated your price versus your cost.

EDIT: Just realized this thread was a month old...

My belief system hold no more weight then any belief system that places the Light of God's love at its heart. Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Christianity, Taoism I don't care. I believe the Light of God's love has been revealed to many people in many forms.

I relate to God through Christ (who was the pure Light of God made flesh). Others do not.

Absolutely! I believe in the goodness of humanity, in spite of all we do to each other and all that we do to destroy the planet.

I believe there is Justice in this world.

I believe in an objective right and wrong, independent of religion, in spite of being unable to always identify it.

I believe that people, no matter their history whether it be drugs, lying, infidelity, or crime can change and become better.

I believe that, no matter what their advantages, no human being is better than another.

I believe these thing completely, unflappably, in lieu of every evidence and reason to the contrary.

I know that these are online forums. I know that people post at crazy hours and with little sleep. On forums the normal rules of grammar and spelling get relaxed, but whenever I see "teh" for "the" it just grates on my nerves. What's your forum misspelling pet peeve?

To my eternal shame, I worked in a pawn shop for a while. We were very thorough about checking the quality of everything brought in. As a rule of thumb is a pawn shop has more than one location, and can afford TV commercials the stuff is going to be as advertised.

If you're worried check with the BBB or your local Chamber for negative reports. Word gets around real fast if a place is selling crap. And of course if you get sketched out while looking around the shop, just leave.

Why on earth is it be illegal to put gold in a safe deposit box?

I think bashing your competing gurus is a well established practice in the snake oil industry.

EDIT: I just checked out the site. I mean wow... and not in a "this product obviously has value" sort of way. I've never seen the cowboy theme in REI products before.

Pawn shops. You can get great deals on gold silver semi precious and precious stones in pawn shops at the moment. The market is flooded with them, because a lot of people are pawning, and you have a lot of bargaining power as a buyer.

I keep a 2 week supply of food and water in the house at all times, as well as a pretty extensive first aid kit.

I'm actually surprised I haven't seen this mentioned in the earlier posts (I could have missed it I skimmed a few of them).

I live in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. I'm more concerned with the after affects of Hurricanes then any other disasters. I remember Hurricane Hugo, and let me tell you after a disaster it can be days or weeks until even basic medical services are available. A good first aid kit and basic, emergency, first responder knowledge really does save lives.

I just discovered shark tank on hulu. I may or may not have wasted the morning watching all three episodes. It's amazing, I love it.
