I've been living in Playa del Carmen Mexico for just over a year and have had my eye on this market for several more. The opportunity here is excelent but can be unsettling for some to invest south of the boarder. The area I live in is turist driven and the property value for the last five years has been going up 20% a year on average, beach front is higher. I would love to help anyone interested in checkin out the posibilities here.
To answer 2 of the most FAQ's... #1: Yes, you can hold title to property in Mexico as a non-Mexican citizen. #2: No, the government will not send anyone in the middle of the night to take it away from you!
If anyone would like to read some of the articles I've writen on the location and the investment opportunities here, just holler...

My girlfriend and I started investing in 2001 when we purchased our condo in Santa Monica,CA. That's when I first read "Richdad", which changed our lives. We hit the condo for the built in equity and bought our first house in Vegas. Tapped that and bought two in Austin. I lived in Vegas for six months, knockin on doors, doing forclosures.I was wholesaling back to an investor in L.A. We took a few lumps but over all learned allot. Never lived in Austin but liked what we saw in growth potential, so we bought there. We had been to Playa a few times and always thought we could do well here. It has takin a little longer than I thought but doesn't everything? I still love what I do!

Although I'm new to this site, I own a few properties outside my local and have been lucky with my selection of PM in the areas I own. Most of the luck was because I did some research with local REIC's where I bought. The best part about using Locals is they know all the ins and outs of that particular city/state. I think you can get some great insite by using this site and the hands on knowledge of the investors posting here.

Thanks guys for wheelin out the welcome wagon. I haven't been investing in the states for at least two years. I have fallin out of the game there since moving to Playa. Before comming here I was focused on forclosures and rehabbing. I still own in Vegas and Austin and they seem to be holding on. I came to your site to keep up to date on the investor side of things back home. The reports I get here are all doom and gloom from people who are not tuned in. I'm looking forward to some positive feed back from people who know this stuff works!

My name is Pete and I live in Playa Del Carmen Mexico. Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I have been investing in the U.S. for a few years and stiil hold a few properties there. Currently I'm focused on what was a sleepy fishing village a few years ago. Now the R.E. market here is booming, Playa has the reputation as one of the fastest growing cities in Latin America. I came here last year to live full time to reap the rewards. So far so good!
