Quote from @Sophia Buesing:

Hey Chris! It would be cool to do a podcast on what tax deductions do real estate investor miss or what we should be doing in our tax planning that we don't do currently.

Thank you! We did an episode on tax planning vs. tax preparation. I like commonly missed deductions!!! Any additional feedback is appreciated, and the podcast name is "Teaching Tax Flow".

Are you managing the STR yourself? Did you form an entity to invest in he property?

You will allocate many of your deductions between Schedule E and Schedule A. You will need to make a list of direct and indirect expenses for the rental property portion of the home. I would just ask whatever tax pro you use if they are familiar with house hacking. If they say no, find someone else.

Thank you for asking. Teaching Tax Flow is the name of the podcast.

Some major pending (and potentially retroactive) tax law changes made it through the house. Thoughts? Progress of Act

You can do a 1031 exchange. I would talk to a qualified intermediary and a tax professional.
