@Emily Guido Hi! I'm glad to have found another Conejo Valley resident investor! I'd love to join this club & come to a meeting! Thank you for mentioning it. How long have you been an investor? I'd love to meet & know more about your experience!

@Ken Wilkinson This is the best thing ever!!!

I love what you & your company are doing! I love everything about it.

My whole life, I've been working with my Dad's non-profit which is near & dear to my heart.

I was raised to give back to my local & global communities, so, your purpose for falling into real estate is so great. It sounds like your calling found you, instead of the other way around!

I know many people, who work with the youth, in Ventura County that I'd love to introduce to you. I feel like we have so many purposes lined up! And I can't believe you are so close.

I would love to pick your brain, learn more about the business you work in & know what it may take to adopt.

I'm free Sunday's & some Saturday's, I'd love to buy you lunch!

Hope we can meet soon!

@Will Pritchett Hi Will, I will definitely look into that book! With all the great books people have recommending to me, my Amazon list is growing. I will be sure to order that soon.

Your suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

@Ken Wilkinson

Hi Ken,

Thank you so much for the offer!

Yes, we are pretty close. I am glad you found me. I was wondering if there were any folks from Ventura County & namely, Thousand Oaks. So, I'm excited to find there are investors close to me.

I told my husband that I truly feel that RE investing will give us the financial freedom & freedom of time to have & raise children.

It warms my heart that you seem to be doing just that! 11 kids! Needless to say, you & your wife must have the most generous hearts.

I would be happy with 1-2 kids. I'm hoping to buy my first home with my husband by the end of the year, house hack & eventually turn it into a rental as we upgrade the home we will eventually live in.

How long have you been investing?

@Lane Kawaoka Yes! My "Why" is a big one. I'm motivated because I want a family more than anything & I see real estate investing as the vehicle to get there. I know it sounds crazy, but I just have a feeling this is that "thing".

I am willing to learn from anyone willing to teach me, so your offer is much appreciate & generous!

I love the name of your website! It's simple, easy & catchy! Checking it out now!

Thank you!

@Caleb Heimsoth Thank you for replying!

It's amazing how working hard isn't enough, we need to work smart.

Like you, I studied so much in school, hoping to strike it rich in my chosen profession, only to be disappointed that it was not the way to financial freedom.

I am laser focused on eliminating all or most of my debt, so my husband & I can plan our future as real estate investors & happy parents.

I'm happy to hear you don't have a get-rich-quick story. I know those stories are motivating, but are not most people's reality. I want to hear MORE of the regular Joe's stories. I don't want to be tricked into thinking it's easy or doesn't come without challenges. I want to hear the horror stories & still be willing to do this, because I think it's worth it.

Like you, I live in an expensive market. I'm in Ventura County, a suburb of Los Angeles. I am looking to invest out of state as well, areas close to California or where we have family members, so we have multiple reasons to go to those places.

Your post is much appreciated & much luck in graduate school!

I look forward to more interactions & input!

I'm 38 years old & I have so much to learn about money, investing & real estate.

I am turning myself into a sponge so I can absorb as much as I can on these topics.

My younger, self-assured self thought I knew everything there was to know about the World, & boy was I wrong!

My dad had suggested I get a real estate license when I was 18, to support myself while I attended UCSB. I told him there was no need as I would become a geneticist or medical researcher & could pay off my student loans in no time.

Fast forward 20 years, and not only did I not get a degree in Biology/Pre-medicine, I didn't even graduate UCSB.

Eventually, I did go back to school & majored in what I love, art. The particularly difficult & heart breaking thing is, art does not pay my bills.

Now that I'm 2 & 1/2 months from my 39th birthday I am faced with the fact that I'm married, without children & so badly want the financial freedom to have kids & raise them myself.

This is my "Why". My husband & I are fertility-challenged. I know that trying to have a baby will be costly & after having the baby, will be even more costly.

I DO NOT want to work for someone else the rest of my life, while someone else raises my kid(s).

I also want to give back to my family, who has given me so much.

After a few weeks of listening to BP podcasts & hearing how many are able to become RE investors working part time & living lives they've dreamed of, I WANT IN!

My husband & I have less than ideal credit. And we have consumer debt & I have student debt. At the moment we are 1,000,000% focused on paying these debts down, improving our credit & learning what I can about real estate investing.

I have a long way to go & probably 9-12 months before jumping into purchasing our first home (my goal is to house hack).

Please let me know there are others out there just starting out by educating themselves.

Please let me know I'm not alone!

I'd appreciate if others shared theirs.

Thank you for listening to my story.
