Hello everyone,

General question: Who has the final say when choosing the winning bid on these FNMA homes? Is it the listing agent that is assigned to the property, a broker who directly works with the firm, or someone else? I'm asking this because the listing agent told me my offer was rejected and that a bid has already been selected. But then I called the homepath customer support a few days later and they said as long as the listing is still open on the website (which it is) you can place an offer. Does anyone with experience is this situation know if I can still place another offer or if I'm out of the race?

I am worried the listing agent has his own buyer that he's stringing along. Not sure if that's something that happens or not.

Additional information:

Its a plot of land about .6 acres in size. The land was put up for sale about a week ago and is under the "FirstLook" period which I qualify for as a first time home buyer. The listing agent said to place an offer and the highest bid on 10/3 at 10:45 AM would be selected.
