So you do suggest picking up one of his courses on ebay? Trust me, with my commute, I could finish them pretty quickly.

BTW, I've also arranged a mini meeting with my buddy who is in RE for tonight. He's been working with his mother lately who has been successful in the RE industry. Hopefully I can pull some good basic starter info out of him. Any advice on things I should specifically inquire about? That would probably help me out a lot.

I'm really into learning about REI but just starting to gather bits and pieces of information. It seems that with my browsing on the forum the are so many things I have to learn more about it's making my head spin right now. It's a bit overwhelming trying to pick the right place to start from without getting sidetracked onto another topic. I kind of just feel like a dog chasing his tail... :crazed:

Hey whats up everyone, my name is Bob and I'd like to introduce myself. I'm 23, from the Allentown PA area and interested in learning as much as possible about REI. Anyone else here from the area? I haven't quite decided yet what my goals are (if i'm looking to flip homes or rent them, maybe a bit of both) but I'm hoping that I'll learn more through you guys so I can direct myself in the right direction for me. So far this site seems to have a lot of valuable information!

Yes, very true. Paying 8g's on my own was part of the reason I'm seeking other more cost effecient ways to learn how to do this the right way. I have about 3,500 saved for either investing or paying some cr. cds down right now. I'm also trying to sell my 350Z that's fully paid for. Hoping to get 20g for it and then I can do whatever I want with it. My initial plan was to sell it and use the 20g as a down on a house for the family but I know that would be good money to invest with and try to grow. I told my gf that if I'm selling my car now I'm going to turn that money into something far greater that will bring me an even nicer car in time. However, I do still have cold feet about losing it from making unknowledgeable decisions and ending up with NOTHING! I've just recently gotten interested in REI so I'm not jumping into anthing until I really know my facts.

Well, my dad and I thought it would be good and we were going to call them but my dad later convinced himself that it won't work based off of the numbers they showed us and he didn't like the idea of buying depressed properties and renting them because he didn't want to be a "slum lord". He doesn't want to deal with all the hastle at his age and try to get people to pay their rent. I was considering calling them myself to take the course but I opted to join the forum and get all my learing here by reading. One of the things they said they used as a networking tool was a forum on their website where investors can swap ideas and what not. After thinking about it, why would I pay them $7500 for the same info I can get on here for free ...and probably more up front and honest.

I looked at it as, they are selling a product; this course. Of course they are going to inflate numbers and omit some expenses you'll encounter along the way just so it sounds good and easy to do. Easy sells courses. Try to sell hard work, that doesn't usually work out if ya know what I mean. I know this REI is hard work so I'd rather get the real, up front facts about obstacles I'll encounter here (from people who have nothing to profit from sharing a bit of their knowledge) than pay someone to make this sound like a cake walk.

I am approaching 24, and have a child on the way in August. Doing what I'm doing now will never get me rich and I've never wanted to work for a company. I've always had this drive to be my own boss at my own business. I've thought about starting some businesses but I seem to be addicted to learning more and more about REI. I've made it my goal to learn, gain as much knowledge as possible, while I am getting myself financially prepared as well. My hope is to learn as much as possible within a year to a year and a half and then I'll be fully ready to go from both a knowledge and financial perspective. I am determined to make something more of my life than what is normal these days. I want to be able to give my family everything and I'll find a way to get there. I'm hoping the people here can help to prepare me.

Sorry for the long post but I think networking here on this forum could prove far more beneficial than laying out 8G for the same thing. Anybody can do anything they want to in this world. It's just how bad you want it. My new motto comes from the Rocky Balboa movie: "Life will beat you to your knees and it'll keep you there if you let it. It's not how hard you hit, it's how hard you can GET HIT and keep movin forward. That's how winnin' is done!"

Is that the Real Estate Riches (Hell Yes!) Course? My father and I just went to that seminar two weeks ago in Allentown. That's the exact same deal they told us.
