Post: Credit Unions for out-of-state investors

Does anyone know of any credit unions that serve out-of-state investors?

I've spoken to a credit union (PFCU) about getting a loan.  Once it came up that I was out-of-state looking to invest, they said they don't do loans for folks out of Pennsylvania. I'm not sure if this is just a problem in general or specific to this credit union, but my preliminary research into other credit unions hasn't been fruitful in determining this...

I'm starting to look for a first property, probably a duplex, but open to a SFR or a fourplex. I'm looking specifically in Vancouver, WA. Any help is much appreciated!

Appreciate the tips!  Will definitely look a little bit more Northerly scanning listings.  Thanks Mindy!

Hi @Mindy Jensen!  Right now, I'm kind of looking into two approaches.  I'm looking into somewhere downtown near Main St., maybe old town or just east of the train tracks to do a basic (cosmetic) rehab to rent, or looking a little north for a duplex or triplex (less interest in rehabbing there).  Thoughts?

Hello! Posted one of these maybe a year ago, but never really got started. I'm now pre-approved for a loan, working with an agent, and looking to get started in Longmont, CO. Any tips on how to get started or simply "hellos" welcome, look forward to meeting folks. - Payton

This may is mostly regarding expenses, but extends to whatever figures you have to rely on someone else's (especially the seller's) info.

Hi Marco,

Appreciate the speedy reply!  I'd like to eventually end up in CO, as I love the place and have family there, and Denver's pretty central to anywhere in the state.  I've seen some price-to-rent ratios in the suburbs that hover around 12, so I think it could still be decent.

I'd really be open to places that have a lot better rent-to-value ratios, but feel I don't really have the connections or roots to be looking into these areas, nor would I really like to invest time in living there.  Nonetheless, I would be up to buying something turnkey if it is already filled and managed.  Any idea on where I could begin to search for something like that?

Thanks,

Payton

Hello,

I'm sure most of this has been addressed somewhere, but I'm just starting to look into my first multifamily investment properties in Colorado, really anywhere within 2 hours of Denver (the closer the better, but the better the deal, the more I'm willing to extend this).  For the meantime, I would likely be doing this remotely, so I'm looking for something that would be turnkey, tenants and PM in place.

Where's a good place to start for searching properties, finding a good agent (do typical sfh agents suffice for multifamily investing?), etc.?

Thanks in advance,

Payton
