Yes, I realize that there may be no such thing as anonymity, despite some of the information that is spread around the internet about Nevada LLCs.  Regardless, I am hoping that linking my name with the property requires a little more effort than a simple google search.  I know that the likelihood of a confrontational tenant seeking us out is low, though this doesn’t mean that I or others should not look for as many avenues as possible to avoid such problems if that is our preference.  I am not currently using a property manager, so any other extra insulating layer that I can get is useful to me.  I am glad to hear that you’ve had good anecdotal experiences with your ventures though.

I started a Nevada LLC with the goal of enhanced privacy. While I realize that if a person really wants to find out who owns the LLC, they ultimately can with some personal effort or potentially the courts, I didn't want people to be able to easily look up that information online (ie a simple Google search). I don't want an impulsive tenant to pay a visit to my house if they are upset about something.

Unfortunately, since setting up the LLC, I found that a few weeks later I was easily able to tie my name to ownership. All that I have to do is either type my name or the business name into a search engine, and on the first page of the search I have a hit with the LLC and my name on it. I thought this was not supposed to be possible?

Up to this point, this is how I understood Nevada LLCs: Nevada LLCs can maintain a level of privacy because the state allows for the formation of anonymous LLCs, meaning that the owners' names and addresses do not need to be publicly disclosed. However, while the owners can remain anonymous, the names and addresses of the managers must be submitted to the state, although this information is not publicly accessible.

At this point I'm not certain if I did something incorrectly in the LLC setup, or if the information not being publicly accessible is a falsehood. I called the Nevada Secretary of State office, and the phone representative confirmed that I called the right place to field questions about a Nevada LLC, yet they weren't equipped to answer my question.

Does anyone have some insight? Also, has anyone had a similar experience where their Nevada LLC information was easily accessible to the public?
