thank you all for your insight. The property is in mammoth lakes ca. I quickly applied for an LLC a couple days ago so it could be used for recording title with it but soon started hearing that it may have been the wrong thing to do. I'm wondering if I can cancel it before it is established. Im hearing the insurance+ umbrella policy is the way to go from most people.

My wife and I are purchasing a condo to use as an short term rental.

we are using a heloc we had because the interest rate Is much lower than anything we could find today with a conventional loan.

so we will be buying the condo “cash” but paying back our heloc with monthly payments.

my question is, should the title of the condo be under the LLC? Or should we buy it under our names and purchase insurance policy + umbrella policy? Or should we buy it under our name and operate the Airbnb under the LLC?

any insight of experience on this topic would be greatly appreciate
