Thank you so much for the welcome, @J. Martin . Just wondering, what made you choose "fix and hold," as opposed to the other niches? I wonder, because I am in the process of finding my niche and studying it further.

@Blake C. -I'm glad to have an Amarillo investor make contact. I searched the site for others, but a lot of them looked inactive. That would be great! Touching base with other Amarillo investors is something I'm looking to do. As I said above, I'm in the process of finding my niche. A lot of the programs and books I'm using to study talk about real estate as a whole, but never focus on a certain style. I do not work, as I was pursuing an athletic career until recently, so I have not found an active plan to invest soon. However, I am not nearly knowledgeable enough to start. I am planning on going to a couple seminars and buying a couple books on certain styles to make sure I know what I'm doing before I begin. However, I will get a job soon to save up for when the time to invest comes.

@Edgar Aguillon - Thanks for the help! I just looked up a group of niches and found a nice post on this website. Now I know what type of research I'll need to do in the immediate future. I've been on here for one day, and I've already learned something! Yeah, I smell the money from Hereford every day. ;) Thank you for the welcome and I will certainly be in contact!

Thank you for the advice! I'll start looking to find where I'd like to attend an open house. There are also around 20 newly built houses near my area, so I'll be able to look at newer properties. Understood!

Thank you for the warm welcome and the advise, I look forward to starting.

And how do you tag others? You think an 18 year old would be tech savvy....

@Joseph Murders - Thank you for the welcome! I think I'd be into flipping, but I'm not sure yet. Honestly, the real estate books that I've read gave me the runaround, instead of concentrated on the actual art of real estate investing. I'm looking for some more focused readings. If you don't mind, what other niches are there? A list would help with focusing my research.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

My name is Omar Naguib and I'm very new to real estate. I'm 18 years old and am taking a year off between high school and college to study real estate on my own. When I go to college during the fall of 2014, I hope to either major or minor in real estate. My goal is to make real estate my career by 25. Everyone wants financial freedom and I'm lucky to have found the route I wish to take towards financial freedom. I'm also attending real estate seminars, reading real estate books, and taking a real estate course, but I know the real lessons are in deals, and I'm eager to learn as soon as possible. I'm excited to learn with you and I hope biggerpockets.com allows me to further my financial education!

Thanks,

Omar Naguib
