 That is definitely good to know! What are your thoughts on mobile home rentals?

It is difficult to directly compare the two strategies, they are very apples to oranges. What are you interested in doing? You can be successful at either.

If you want to know which one is "easiest" to start in, rentals.

Flipping is a very specific game, and you have to balance many things, and they all must go right. And then you have to do it all over again, and everything must go right, again.

That is obviously distilling things way down though.

 That is very helpful information...do you know anything about how profitable mobile homes can be?

welcome to the site.

Your looking into rentals I assume?

 Yes, maybe some rentals. I think ideally, my mom and I would like to start with a small project, flipping a house? Do you have suggestions on whether renting is better for a beginner or do you suggest other options?

Glad to hear I am not the only one new to this, but I am sure you are more knowledgeable than I am! Congrats on making your first calls, I hope they were productive! I will surely look into listening in on the podcast and looking into getting that ebook you talked about. I'd be more than happy to share any information that I find!

Olivia,

I am in the same exact situation as you. I live on the east side of Cleveland. I am looking to make my first investment purchase somewhere in the east suburbs/heights. I am relatively new to bigger pockets and starting to figure out where the best newby information is. Just this week, I have made my first calls to realtors, lendors, and sellers. Very exciting (buy the butterflies in my stomach are now going crazy)!

We should definitely share good leads for getting started in RE investing on the east side of Cleveland. Based on my experience so far, I highly recommend listening to the biggerpocket podcasts whenever you have time and getting the free ebook from biggerpockets called the Ultimate Beginner's Guide to RE investing.

@IsaccRowe

Yes, that's exactly the area I am talking about! I would surely be open to any knowledge you can give me about the opportunities in that area. Also, do you have suggestions for a newby? What do you think is the most important knowledge one should know about investing in real estate?

Hi All!

Thank you for reaching out to me! I believe Cleveland is a great market for rental properties and maybe flipping homes. In my area, I am surrounded by higher education, which might be a good market for rental properties considering students always need a place to live. I am getting started in this process with my mother, who is in the same boat as me, having little knowledge on real estate. We would like to start with something small, and work our way up as we learn more.

I think other surrounding cities like Akron/Canton can be a good opportunity for real estate as well, but I guess I will have to do my research. As a starter and college grad, I am would you say, "hungry" for knowledge!
