Thanks Theresa! You actually touched on a big point we are debating on. Do we use all the cash towards our first house or only put down whatever the proposed 20% would be? I know this is also dependent on how much we would be allowed to borrow to begin with.

Hypothetically let’s say we want to purchase a duplex for roughly 290k.. does it make sense to put the whole 100K in?

That’s really good advice. I know for sure that we don’t want to work for that much longer. We want to retire as early as humanly possible and we want real estate to take us there.

My fiancé and I are looking to begin our journey to financial independence in MD. We saved up close to 100k and don’t want to make any dumb moves. We think house hacking in a multi family would be the way to start out.

But what would be a bad first move... if there is such a thing?

We also want to own other properties in the future. Should we use all of this money towards one investment? So many questions running through my head !!!
