Hi Sandro, nice to meet you. Could very well be that I played volleyball with your brothers or cousins in Oberlunkhofen. It could even be that they aren't related to you at all as half of the people living in Oberlunkhofen have the name Hagenbuch ;-)

As you, I listen to several audiobooks and podcasts, but these are focusing on REI in US. I've never looked at deals in Switzerland very closely. But from my experiences as a home owner and knowing some prices of properties around Bremgarten and Zurich, I cannot imagine that the ROIs are comparable to the US. Furthermore, the prices are much higher which makes REI less accessible, at least to me.

E.g. in Bremgarten, I heard prices around 1 mio for a 3/2 apartment to buy and these kind of apartments rent for around 3000 a month.

I know the RE prices vary a lot in the US but at least based on what I heard the ratio between the purchasing price and the rent is better. Therefore better ROIs are possible when looking at buy and hold deals.

As I'm very new to the topic of REI and have not done one deal yet, I'm very interested in getting your opinion on what I've described above.

Looking forward to get your feedback.

Thomas

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie from Switzerland who discovered BB by reading blogs and listening to different podcasts.

I'm very new to REI because I thought it is not accessible to me. This notion came from looking at the numbers we are used to here in Switzerland. Because of the high prices of RE I think it's harder to get started.

That's the reason why I started looking at REI in the US and think that BB can help me.

A few quick points about me:

  • I'm a father of three boys.
  • I earn my as a software engineer.
  • My goal for REI is to get my feet wet.

If you have any advice for foreign citizens especially from Switzerland on how to get started in REI in the US, you're very welcome!

Thank you very much and see you in the forums.
