The best training you can receive is actually being involved in a transaction. Finding a seller who is open to this and putting them under contract, figuring out closing with the title company and attorneys along the way will teach you a lot.

Agree with your recommendation, Eliott. Looking forward to getting feet wet in this domain, experience is the best teacher.

Get to understand the math behind it and understand sensitivity analysis

Bruce Kerth at refm has great courses

Thanks Chris. I tried googling for Bruce's details but I could not find any relevant information. Would you mind passing along a URL that may be pertinent?

I can help you there. The number one key, which is the number one key to REI in general, is to be not just good, but excellent in math. Not just any math, but specifically Geometry and Algebra.

Thanks Joe for the good feedback. I am generally good with those areas, it's their application that I need to understand better.

Hey BP Members,

I am starting out and trying to educate myself in understanding creative financing strategies (or real estate financing in general) in more depth. I hear about so many cool strategies on BP podcasts and read about them on this forum, but who are 'the people' trained in completing such transactions?

Are there any formal instruction methods (degrees/certifications) that I can pursue? The ulterior goal would be to even land a job in lending space where I can start exercising my knowledge and gain experience in this domain.

Lastly, if there are folks with similar interests, please hit me up so that we can exchange some ideas!

TIA!!
