I never thought stumbling across a YouTube video would so quickly change my life!

About 6 months ago, I came across a video of Brandon Turner doing his thing on YT. Motivating and sharing his incredible real estate wisdom. It didn’t take long to start wanting to learn more, and then I was hooked. I’ve dedicated this part of my life (I’m 25) to learning as much as possible about real estate investing so that I’ll be ready for my first deal when I move back to the Midwest come Summer 2020. (It’s the market I know best and where I have countless connections with other investors, agents, family, etc.)

Ive spent anywhere from 3-5 hours every single day absorbing as much content as I can from the podcast to the BP books and suggested books. I’ve learned SO much already and get that crazy excited feeling inside every time I turn on another podcast. I thought I had my career path set, but now I’m legitimately excited to shift my future towards the world of real estate investing.

How did you hear about BP and how has it changed your life?? I’m sure there are so many great stories out there!

Post: Pay off student loans or start investing in real estate??

Should I pay less $$$ towards paying off my student loans and put more into getting a deal ASAP? OR should I focus on eliminating as much debt as possible, leaving me with less opportunity for cash for investing??

I just turned 25 yesterday, I’m happily married with no kids, and my wife and I make fairly decent money together. I’ve been extremely interested in working to find my first deal, but I’m caught between a rock and a hard place right now.

Between the two of us, we have about 80K in student loans left to pay off. We are wanting to live small and decided to live on my salary and pay it off within 2-3 years with hers.

Now that I'm pretty hooked on REI and I see the major potential, I want to start now and grow my wealth through rental property investing and BRRRRing.

I see far more potential to make more $$$ through rest estate, so I want to start now, but I also know that means less towards debt. What advice do you guys have for people that want to invest in real estate while also having the responsibility of paying off student loans?

@Joseph Firmin

Thanks Joe! Good advice. I definitely am considering that, and I’ve got that book ready to order! Finishing BT’s book on Rental Properties first! It’s great! I guess I was more concerned with the possibility of having to rehab from distance.

I’d love to house hack for a bit, but unfortunately I’m in a year lease in an apt right now and I don’t really see a way out yet. That’s been my biggest issue because I didn’t realize how hooked I’d get and now I wish I never rented in the first place!

I’m between focusing on education for a year before my first deal, or finding and diving into a deal from distance and learning as I go.

Hey everyone! I’m new to the BP world and I have really been loving every second of it. Between the podcasts, forums, and BP books I’ve learned so much in just a couple of months.

I’m in a situation right now where I’m likely going to be moving cities next year from North Carolina to Tulsa, Oklahoma where I grew up. I want to get started in real estate as soon as possible, but I don’t know if it’s smart to have my first property be long distance, (looking at Tulsa, not here) but I also understand that a year is a long time and I could have learned a lot from the process in a year and could hit the ground running once I move.

If it were you, would you use the year of time to learn as much as possible, read, study real estate investing books, the forums, listen to podcasts etc, or would you look for your first investment from distance and “build the parachute on the way down” as Brandon Turner would say??

I'm looking into renting SFH and possibly multi family more long term. BRRRR method is what I'm leaning towards, but it would depend on the deal.

Thanks so much for any input!
