I've passed my exams,  I have a sponsoring broker,  and I have the basics of my marketing plan.

How did you get your first lead?  Did you convert your lead to a client immediately?  If not,  how long did it take before you were able to convert your leads to clients? What advice would you give to someone just starting?

Post: Choosing a Google Voice number

I live in Connecticut, where I'm starting my real estate journey. I will be operating out of a company one town over, so I want to use the local agent angle to drive in some business.

We have two area codes that are easily recognizable as CT phone numbers (860 and 203). However, there is also a third (475) that usually gets some weird looks when you share it (for my personal cell I have the third area code, when I verbally give it out I often get asked where that number is from).

When I look up my google voice number options, I can either get a number in the town I will be operating out of - but with the 475 area code. However, if I choose a different town, I can get one of the more easily recognizable area codes either 203 or 860.

So - I'd like to get some input as to which of the following matter the most:

  1. Locale is more important, don't worry about the area code,
  2. Area code that's easily recognizable is more important, or,
  3. It really doesn't matter.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read and respond. I'm always happy to clarify if need be.

@Jason Dale I grew up in New Milford, actually! Quite frankly, my boyfriend is already pretty established in Nashville, and they are out of this world booming right now. Good luck with your adventure into real estate!
@Luka Milicevic Sylvan park area! Do you have any favorite developers or architects? Currently vetting a lot. Thank you for the welcome!

@Jimmy Edwards thank you for the kind offer! I will take you up on it as soon as I have a question!

Hey everybody! I've just started researching how to get my license here in CT to be a real estate agent, and simultaneously beginning to lay the ground work for a demo and rebuild with my boyfriend in Nashville TN. We heard about BP from a friend who is also involved in real estate development and we've been listening to the podcasts pretty much nonstop.

I'm eager to get to know you guys and to hear your take on things!
