Hey Storm! I'm in the MI market as well.

There are amazing benefits to having a real estate license just like you listed.

If getting your license virtually, I used Aceable agent and Prep Agent to study for the exam I recommend those apps.

RPOA is a great investment group

I work with investors all the time. PM me and I can either give you more advice for getting and passing your exam, getting you connected to more investors or getting you into an investment property.

Hey Christian!

That's a great plan.

to start

1. talk to a loan officer and get pre-approved. (you'll know how much you can spend)

2. Find a Local Realtor

3. Go look at houses

4. Close on a house!

I'm in the area and I'd be happy to help you.

PM me and we can get you going in the right direction

- Hello Bigger Pockets Family

Does anyone struggle with not having enough Earnest money deposit on their real estate deals to the point where they can't get the deal done?

  1. Benefits of Investing in Real Estate.
  2. Stability and Appreciation: Real estate investments historically have shown long-term stability and have the potential for significant appreciation over time. They are tangible assets that tend to hold or increase in value, making them a reliable choice for investors.
  3. Cash Flow: Rental properties can generate a steady income through rental payments. With the right properties and management, you can enjoy consistent cash flow that can help secure your financial future.
  4. Diversification: Real estate can be an excellent way to diversify your investment portfolio, reducing risk and helping to balance out more volatile investments.
  5. Tax Benefits: Real estate investments often come with tax advantages, including deductions for mortgage interest, property taxes, and depreciation. These can lead to substantial savings come tax season.
  6. Hedge Against Inflation: Real estate tends to perform well in inflationary environments. As prices rise, so does the value of your real estate holdings.

@Chris Seveney

Thank you for the response. How would you go about hanging out with people 10x smarter? Outside of the obvious answer of going to investor meet-ups?

@Ian Murray

Thank you for the very solid and detailed response. I will definitely start going to many more networking events here in Grand Rapids. I do find it difficult to find a mentor group, especially with experience that has the time to get to know and take me in.

I did not think about talking to insurance agents, CPAs, and bankers i'll have to do that.

Thank you very much, Nicholas

Hello Bigger Pockets Family,

My name is Nicholas Staley I'm 19, a sophomore at Grand Valley State University. I am an active realtor and looking to invest in the near future. I was a marketing major and recently switched to finance. What career choice would add more value to my future as investing but also as a real estate agent?

Thank you for any thoughts and advice.

best, Nicholas

Sweet man! I just got my license too. Check out Aceable agent to get the certificate and use PREP agent to study for the exam.

Reach out to as many real estate agents as possible. Follow up with them every 3 weeks and keep a list of them. Whether it's a google sheet or a CRM.
