@Elliott Elkhoury that’s rough! I hope everything worked out okay after that, haha

@Frank Chin it looks like you’ve seen your share of success. Wow that’s impressive. Sounds like everything worked out great

@Merritt S. Very good point. I think it’s a great opportunity to start something with my father that could last for a while. It’s something for us to do together as well. We are both mature enough to have differing opinions

@Eric C. You bring up a solid point. I could just repay him and basically use him as a lender. It’s something to think about

@Nick Rutkowski I might go that route. My dad will just be responsible for the renovation. I do not have enough money to do it on my own

@Anthony Bellesbach thanks for the input. My dad is great with his hands. He would help big time with a possible renovation. I might just have to set boundaries with him

@Mike Lee I agree with you. I’ve always been firm on that concept as well. My dad brings a lot of experience to the table when it comes to renovating a house so I’ll just have to make a choice

I’m looking to purchase my first property. I proposed the idea to my father and he likes the idea. My dad and I have a modest amount of money to get started. I’m very nervous about getting into money and business with my dad. Is this a bad idea? I feel like I should answer to him bc he’s my father. But, I’m the one with business experience. (I operate a restaurant)

Anyone else start this way? Reach out!

-Nick

I’m located in the suburbs about 30 miles outside of Chicago. I’m looking to get started with my first property. If anyone is interested in a partnership I’m your guy.
