@David HuynhI am surprised to hear that you found such great deals using just those methods, that's great. I am trying to grow my understanding of the different "tools" available to investors. Did you read any books that helped you get started or do you have any recommendations for someone in the education phase of investing?

You are doing a great job, keep it up!

Congrats, your story is very inspiring. I hope to follow your footsteps here in near future.

If you don't mind me asking how are you finding these deals? Direct Mail? MLS? or something else?

Thank you for replying. The biggerpockets community is very active and I greatly appreciate the feedback.

You guys gave me a lot to think about. From what I gathered there were two basic ideas:

1) Stay with my current job and build a strong foundation financially before jumping into investing (which will help with bank financing)

2) Slowly edge into PM/Being an agent through a mentorship situation or part-timer.

I would prefer to be in real estate for both my investing career and my J.O.B. which is why I am more interested in the second idea. I do appreciate what others had to say as there are definitely pros and cons of each side.

Biggerpockets Team,

I have been in the education portion of my real estate journey and will continue to be on this educational push until August rolls around. I will be moving to the North Dallas area to be closer to family come August.

My experience is in human resources but my passion is real estate. I have been aggressivly paying off my student debt and should be debt free come August. Unfortunately, that doesnt leave me with a lot of buffer to invest in real estate or start out as a real estate agent (my preferred job)

I realize that there is more then one way to get into real estate and I wanted to get everyones opinions on what jobs they think I might be able to do related to real estate.

I was thinking of being an apartment manager or a property manager but I am not sure if I can get into it having so little/no experience.

Any recommendations?

My end goal is to be a long-term buy and hold investor with a job in real estate in some way form or fashion (preferrably an agent).

Hey everyone!

The name's Nick. I am mid way through my first year of post-graduate life and working as a mattress salesmen. I am waiting for my wife to finish graduate school and look forward to settling down and investing in the North Dallas area (or so the plan is...)

I am excited to use this "waiting time" in order to learn and prepare my self for a running head start after my wife and I move this August/September.

Biggerpockets has already been a big help in expanding my education. I can't get enough of those podcasts. Look forward to being with this community!
