@Derek Carroll Not sure how I missed that, I drive by that way pretty frequently. 84 Lumber is a good idea as well, I haven't stopped in there yet. I recently was quoted $150/labor from a handyman that was recommended to me and I wold just pick up the windows myself, thats the best deal so far. Thanks for reaching out!

@Natalie Schanne I've been having some G and Handyman stop over to quote out my window job and although they all are happy to do the job a couple of them have mentioned that it may be better to refurbish them. I haven't looking too deeply into it yet but I would assume it would be possible to replace cross hatching. Wood is a better insulator than vinyl so other then a more updated look and maybe easier to open windows I think I may follow suit with what you're doing and just keep the storm windows on and touch up the interior wood windows.

@Natalie Schanne I was honestly baffled haha! I told the guy I was sorry that I wasted his time and it was time to go. He kept pushing, which in a way I respect given my backround is in sales, but come on man! Did you really think I was going to chomp at the bit with a proposal like that! Lol

@Matt M. Yeah im concerned with going through Lowes for that reason. They simply subcontract the work and i cant imagine the contractor that gets the bid gives two craps on how well the craftsmanship is. Ive also realized that warranties become tough to work with when going through a distributor like Lowrs because there are so many hands in the pot that its hard to put blame on any one company.

@Rachael Agruso yeah structurally they seem in decent shape. I have an aluminium storm window and then wood interior, both single pane. The problem is most of the windows are tough to open and during the summer months i dont want to worry about the storm windows. Have you looked into refurbishing wood interior windows at all? Im condiering doing that instead of replacing, given yours and others advice to not replace.
