Great point @Rob Hayes. We'd all be wise to listen to MJ. I do have plans to continue exactly what I'm doing, where I'm doing it. I was just expressing some interest in taking the same processes and model to a slightly different location to diversify and also to keep an open mind to keep learning about all of the neat ways people with more experience than me are having success.

Hi @Melissa Wesling, thanks for connecting with me the other day. Everyone get in touch with Melissa and Vrolio. She's a valuable good asset in the vacation rental market.

@Paul De Luca I'm operating in the chain o lakes area (fox lake) currently. The area has been good for me but I'm also looking to expand and find new areas as well. I've got a long term rental in lake barrington as well. I really enjoy the STR style but I'm interested in all types of models. I'm currently going down the rabbit hole of bp podcasts so I know there are a lot of interesting ways of going about it.

Hi Jason,

A good hospitality tip would be to ask them for info about why they are coming so that you can give them some custom tips on how to make the stay the best and leave them a nice welcome gift or note. If someone is staying at my lakehouse because they want to teach their kid to fish, ill leave them a kids fishing pole, some bait/tackle and a guidebook.

Also, I use a software called Hostfully that helps automate processes and put together digital guidebooks.

Very cool idea helping people and finding a niche. Keep it up Sarah.

Hi BP Community! I am a fairly new investor with two properties in NE Illinois. This community has been a huge resource to me and I'd like to become more involved. I've had a lot of fun and success in the STR market and am currently looking to expand (NE Illinois, SW Michigan and Wisconsin). My strengths are in operations, implementing systems, sourcing deals and my professional background is in construction. My current weaknesses would be in sourcing capital, financing and networking. I'm always looking to learn and grow.
