Post: Should you own a primary residence before investing?

I’m 25 years old and I’m gaining ground in my real estate investing education. I’ve read several books, listen to numerous podcasts in BP and have read several articles on the forums. I’m looking for advice in the fact that I don’t currently own my own primary residence. I currently rent and am wondering what the opinion is on starting to invest in real estate before owning a primary residence.

Long story short, I’m torn between purchasing a primary residence for myself or use that same money to start to invest.

Thanks you!

@Dave Lin will do! Thank you!

@Cory Iannacone really inspiring post. I am new to REI from the Lehigh valley area in PA and reading this really gets me fired up! I'm still soaking in all of the information and knowledge I can. I loved that you provided some numbers for insight too.

One question I have, how has gaining your real estate license helped you other than reducing expenses like closing costs?

Thanks

@Marina Feldberg I am new to real estate investing as well and really only had exposure to BP. I have not heard of Short Term Sage before your post. I looked them up on YouTube and have subscribed. Thanks for your post!

@Tom Burke I appreciate the advice! I too find that the podcasts are each so individually valuable. I think some of the best parts of the podcasts are the end few questions. I’m starting to see a pattern in the last question between everyone on the show and that is great information. Thanks again and best of luck to you!

@Daniel Vandenbos thank you! I’m interested in getting out there and starting to network. If you have any recommendations as to a good place to start that would be great. Thanks again!
