If the GC knows what he is doing, you don't need a consultant.

Hi BP,

I am new to REI and I have been looking at a lot of types of properties, single family detached, attached, condo, etc.. And some of the have HOA, some don't. My question is, actually a two part question. Is HOA good, bad, or doesn't matter for investors? If so, why?

And another question I have is what type of properties do you guys buy for REI? Why?

Thanks BP!

@Michael Lee

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't thought of Angie's before, I will look into it. And I current has my principle broker as my mentor, she has been a great help. I am lucky because the company I work with has very nice people, all the other agents are very willing to share and teach me. And I have been studying my market so I have a brief idea of what the house prices are in certain areas.

Hi,

My name is Nevin and I just got my license about half a year ago. I am currently working in Portland, Oregon market. Since I wasn't growing up here in the U.S. my sphere of influences is practically none, so my start is a little rough. To be honest I am still trying to find ways for me to get clients, so if you have some stories to share or tips for me I am all ears.

I always wanted to invest in real estate because I grew up with the concept of "people always need a place to stay". Then I came across this forum online. It feel excited and overwhelmed at the same time because there are so much to learn. I love the freedom that being a realtor can give me, but ultimately I want to own multiple houses for rental. So here I am!!
