Gotcha, yeah I think they are all mostly livable, just could use some work. I'm looking at around campuses (i.e. FSU in Tallahassee) for some SFH, but will note the tenants I'd be living with.

Hey all,

I'm looking to put 30-40k down and so looking for properties to rent under about $225,000 in Orlando/Tallahassee/Jax area. I'm pretty handy and want to dive into house hacking, and I'm also able to sustain myself and pay for expenses while I do it through my remote job.

Are there other areas friendlier/easier to coordinate property management/getting general contractors? I have found some decent fixer-uppers on larger lots in the aforementioned cities, albeit in ok/mediocre neighborhoods.

How much of a factor is current "roughness" of a neighborhood as well? If I'm managing it remotely and also just renting it I don't really think that's an issue, as long as there's a rental market there.

Appreciate all the responses!
