Just spent over an hour at the bank and they are not able to setup a simple checking account for my new 401k trust to roll funds into. Frustrating waste of time and don't want to go through that again. Anyone in Orange County CA that has a solo 401k - what bank do you work with?

That is great news Joseph Shevy - congrats and thanks for sharing!

We have a family trip planed and I thought it would be a great time to get to know the market a bit better before I head out there.

I would like to see if I can connect with someone that is an expert in the area to see if anything fits into my plans for purchasing a cash-flow rental property - for either long term or vacation rentals - depending on the area. And if possible to view some properties while I am in town.

Thanks @Karen Margrave  and @Joe Homs  for the local welcome - and everyone else of course! :)

The meetup sounds great, and is just 15 minutes from my home - looking forward to it!

@Chaz Reid  - yes VERY familiar with SEO and everything that goes into it, one of my start ups applies some great techniques - but cannot say more in this forum is my understanding - will probably share that in another area of the site once I learn my way around BP.

And love your Ali quote - I have this one on the back of my IT business card: "Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing." - Muhammad Ali

My name is Nayt Grochowski and I am just starting out in the REI business. Working on getting a high level picture of the different approaches out there as I build up a business plan for moving forward - so getting in a lot of reading, videos, local REI seminars, etc.

My background is as an internet entrepreneur (ie: code geek) - been at it for 20 years and have worked with over half a dozen start-ups. I've had success in over half, along with a great exit a few years ago, which has helped fund my last few start ups these past 2 years. With most of the development work is done on my projects I decided its time to branch out and look for something else to diversify my cash-flow.

I am setting up my business and forming the business plan right now. Planning to start with wholesaling properties to get a better understanding of the process and partner up with people to see how they complete projects before I begin my own fix/flips and buy/holds. Love to learn from people that have been there, done that, and to see how I can help them to learn first hand from them.

I owned a few condos back in the late 90's and turned them into rental properties when I moved from TN to CA. I sold them a few years after I moved to CA - was tough to self manage rentals from across the country! But that left a good "taste in my mouth" for real estate, as the equity I ended up cashing out with was pretty good, even with doing everything retail.
