Out of curiosity, how did you chose the Southeast US as your first step?

@Nathan DeWitt, I'm with Mark on this one. You're in one of the best markets in the U.S. - why add difficulty by making your first purchase out-of-area? There's so much you learn by being personally involved from start to finish with your first few projects.

Thanks for the input. I should have cleared that up - I plan to move out of Texas within the next year or so for personal reasons. I will only purchase property where I am living at the time.

Hello everyone, my name is Nathan. I'm actually from Nashville, TN, and graduated from college in Fort Worth in May 2014 (age 23 now) and have been working here at the local real estate board since then - The Greater Fort Worth Association of REALTORS. I am the Director of Communications at the board and I recently finished my RE license classes, set to take the state/national exam May 30 (wish me luck!)

I became interested in investing once I started working with agents on a daily basis and taking the classes, then listening to BP podcasts and realized investing was something I could really enjoy doing. So, I am pumped to meet some new people and continue my education, and I hope to buy a rental property somewhere in the Southeast US in 2016 as a first step!
