Hi Natalia. There are many paid mentor-ships, so be careful. I'd start with Youtube and exhaust the "investing in real estate" videos. You'll find many of the paid mentors have the most and easiest to find videos. Study as much as you can before you talk to any prospective mentor. Then, 1) Decide which part of the real estate investment business you are best at. (The mentors call it your avatar.) 2) make a plan - set a goal. Figure out how much you want to make. Calculate how many deals that means. Calculate how many contacts that will be. Calculate what your avatar contribution is to each deal. 3) decide/budget what your personal investment ability is. This is a business and nothing is no cost. Maybe you have abundant time, or money, or connections, etc. What is you personal ability to invest. 4) define what your value will be/is to any mentor and be able to express that clearly - and fulfill that value proposition. If you do all those things, the rest may fall into place. Keep in mind - it is a business, not a hobby. Mentors do that as a business - so find one that is also doing deals and figure out a way/ask to join their team/group. BUT - you have to be able to provide some kind of good value to their business.
Heath,
Thank you so much for taking your time and sharing some tips with me. I will definitely take time to draw out a plan for myself and follow your advice. I agree with you that this is a business and not a hobby and that is why I also believe that before starting any business, one should be prepared and do lots of research. I'm hoping to find a mentor that is local to me that I can learn from and hopefully as well bring some value to them. If you know of any Investment meet ups on Cape Cod, please let me know. I would be happy to attend and connect with others.
