I was in the Nuke field in the Navy for 10 years.  I now work in a commercial nuclear plant.

My transition out of the Navy was perfect.  I had a great experience.  If anything, I wish I would have started my civilian career at a commercial nuclear plant a lot sooner.

Also, if I can look back, I wish I bought more properties while I was in the military,  I only bought 2 and stopped.   I feel like I am catching up now.  I have 10 so far but I should have about 15 to 20 if I worked on real estate investing a lot harder.

Welcome Brad.  I was also in the Navy for 10 years.  Its nice to see Active duty members on this forum.  I wish BP existed back when I was in the military.  I probably would have more properties by now.

I am a veteran.  I invest in properties.  But I don't think it makes me a better option than the next person.  A track record of your investing is probably a better way to measure whether you would be a good candidate or not.

If I had a 9-5 job then I would have even more time to do real estate.

I only work 40-72 hours a week.  There is a total of 168 hours a week and I only work less than half of that.  There is plenty of time to do research.

I work a full time job.  Anywhere from 40 hours to 72 hours a week and I still invest.  It's my job that allows me to invest in real estate.  I am up to 8 properties now (not including primary residence) and I buy 3-5 properties a year (goal).

If it weren't for my career, I would have to find creative ways to finance properties.

Post: for sale by owner? can buyer use realtor?

I just did a deal with a for sale by owner and they did not pay the buyer's agent fee.  I ended up picking up the tab.  I like my relationship with my agent so I saw it fit to take up the fee if it is not covered by the seller.

I have always thought that condos are a part of a building that you own and have a deed to while an apartment refers to an entire building where the owner(s) own the whole building.

But every once in a while, I hear that someone is selling an apartment.  I assume he is selling an entire building.  Instead, he is referring to a single unit.  Are both words universal?
