@Colin G Murphy, thank you for the great advice! The thought was to start with cash as we have a mortgage thats pretty hefty on our house as well as student loans(ugh). But feel that the investment potential of real estate outweighs the % interest on our loans, so its a fine balancing act.

I have thought about the beach rental vs the condos away from beach and agree. I guess the first thing to decide is what kind of investing we would like to do.

I love all the great comments here and Ive started listening to pod casts!

Thanks guys and gals!

Hello All!!

My name is Nadia and I will try to keep it shot and sweet. My husband and I are both doctors and are finally starting to make money (after 12+ years in school each). So we were looking to invest and we(especially me) love real estate. I often peruse Zillow and Trullia just for fun!

We were looking at buying a rental property, possibly on the beach since we are so close. We were going to pay cash.

Would people recommend waiting and buying something "more expensive" say 200K+ or is it still valuable to start with 100K property?

We of course want to make sure we are not in the red throughout the year as we have our own mortgage to pay and then some!

Thanks in advance! So excited to start this adventure!
