Lynn M. - That's really interesting. I had no clue you could obtain 2 FHA's. Unfort for me though, my job wouldn't be moving more than 75 miles away.

There have been rumors of my job relocating but I want to get a FHA loan. I'm aware you need to intend to occupy the house for a year to get a FHA loan. What would happen if I got an FHA loan and my job did relocate a few months down the road causing me to move, and I wanted to still own that property and possibly rent it out?

That's insane. I hope it's turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Thanks a bunch for the info Steven Hamilton II! We all plan on being on the title together and probably after two to three properties we will put them into a LLC. Very good to know about the taxes, I had no idea where to even begin with that. Thanks for your help.

Justin Franz - I'm in the same boat, but here in the DC area. I ultimately would like to get a duplex, but that just isn't very reasonable in my geographic location. I'm currently looking for townhomes with as many rooms as possible that I could rent out.

Good point Jon Holdman. I guess we'll continue to take baby steps as we go along and have all 3 of us on the title and have less risk. Thanks again

Another thought: Since you can typically only have 4 mortgaged properties under your name, does this follow the same suit as an LLC?

Jon Holdman- Thanks for the great advice. We will certainly talk everything over in regards to contingency plans and what not.

Chris Masons- Thankfully we've been best friends since 5th grade and actually share the same short & long term goals!
