Post: Buying a primary residence using creative financing

I am making a big move in several months from CA to the east coast.  I would like to purchase a condo/townhome.  Since COVID, my previous business was closed so I've been on unemployment.  I believe my only option is creative financing; subject-to, owner finance, or something I am unaware of.  I am totally new to the real estate business so I would love some help in directing me as to how I can make this happen.  I know there are many people here with much more experience than me so any help would be greatly appreciated.  Have a great day!

Rick - Is there a particular way to approach them that you have found to be more successful in getting them to cooperate?

Thanks you all for your suggestions.  I have heard it's best to rent where you live, and buy what you rent.  Would you agree?

I am looking for some real guidance as to WHERE I should start in REI. I am currently a renter living in Burbank, CA, but would like to start making investments.

I have a nonprofit program for children that I have run for just over 10 years.  It is a theatre program.  We have rented space from a church during 10 years and also rented theatre space for performances.

Our program is at a crucial stage and needs to grow and the only way is to have our own space.  I am no flush and yet every year we spend a good deal of our funds on rentals.  I also know that with our own space we could offer so much more, which would mean income plus we could rent the space to others.

Can anyone here give me ideas on how I can move forward with purchasing a property?
