Thank you everyone for your support. I am very excited to start flipping my first house. I have a good couple months of developing my business plan beforehand. There are thoughts of getting a real estate license, LLC setup, possibly partnering, rent or not.......so much to compatmentalize for a newbie :)

As Joe mentioned above, I am a numbers guy and it should serve me well.

Paul - the podcasts are great. I will probably also look into reading the book you suggested.

Michele - thank you for the invites. I find the best way to get started in anything is to begin getting nuggets of knowledge, and within a few months the links between them start connecting for a much better foundation of the overall process. I would like to attend some local meetings and will contact you.

Brandon - I agree, it's nice to have folks in the area. I like to work with people personally more than through websites. I actually have a few job sites up in Olympia right now (my day job that is). I have about a handful of building controls projects that I am working on at Olympia School District. Thurston county project as well.

Thank you again everyone,

Matt

Well hello everybody,

I am a mid 30's husband, father of a wonderful 9 year old girl, dog owner, and someone who enjoys their day job as a construction manager in the commercial industry.......well most days anyways :)

My proffessional story began with earning a bachelors in mechanical engineering from Washington State University (while working in the residential HVAC field). From there, I landed a job at a large design/build construction firm that had the ability to self perform the construction as well. To be honest, out of college I was very green in this large commercial industry and had much experience to gain. None the less, over the past six years I navigated through multiple promotions and job titles. I most recently earned the role of construction manager for a 3 million dollar ESCO project for a large school district (consisting of 49 different scopes of work), which included all construction aspects such as managing subcontractors, managing self performed scopes, financials, external/internal project management, ect.

I have reached a level of both knowledge and professionalism in my career, that I want to start a venture in real estate (part time......I enjoy the day job and also the security for my family). I intend to buy real estate that needs repairs, manage the repairs, and sell for a profit. My background will serve me well, but i realize there is a difference between commercial and residential domains. I will need to start small. It will take a couple flips before I hit a groove, but I believe the learning curve will be fast for me.
