Podcast 274 guest mentioned that he only invests in markets he knows, (and has two other rules) and has been very successful with that.

Also, I know I have learned a lot from reading/podcasts etc. but I think one other important component is getting active in the forums. I know I have learned a lot and have connected with many people that way.

I definitely concur with that idea of investing where you know. However, I think once you get to know the business, you can start to branch out and start to get into other markets, reading up on them, etc..

I'll work on getting more active here, then!

Thanks for the tips,

Mo

Hey Chicagoland!

I'm Mo, an aspiring investor living in Chicago's Northside. I'm completely new to this sector, but I've been listening to the BP podcasts every free/waking moment that I have, reading up the books and articles, networking, and running numbers for a couple of months here now. I have a plan to start my investing out by doing a few flips, probably in Lake County (but not necessarily). I'd like to then move on to BRRRR'ing, and then eventually onto commercial (I'll start with one residential unit first at least, though!).

My origin is actually Phoenix, AZ, and I intend to invest there as well, once I get a handle on investing.

At the moment, I am an Cloud IT Help Desk technician, a Computer Apps teacher for high school seniors, and repair mobile devices and computers on the side.
