Hi David,

Newbie to BP and Real Estate in general here. Just curious- what made you decide to go down the route of a limited partnership? Pros vs cons against doing it on your own? Best of luck with your investment journey!

Hi Philly,

I’m a newbie from Brooklyn, NY interested in investing into some retail properties in Philly. My goal is that I can get started with investing into some duplex/multi-family properties with retail space on the main floor in somewhere like Philly. I’ll then gain some capital and more importantly, some experience, so that I can then come back to Brooklyn to do it.

Anyone in Philadelphia looking to take me under their wing? Any input at all that folks can provide would be very helpful for someone on my level. Thanks in advance!

Hi Laura,

Also a newbie here just trying to learn how to pick spaces and the basics for holding a multi-family property. This may be a dumb question, but how did you find a landlord to manage the building/tenants for you?

Hi Stacy,

Also new here just reading through all the different intro forums here as well. Welcome to BP!

If i may jump in here really quick to ask, @Larry Fried, how did you find your ground team? I too would like to do some out of state investing since I'm a little fish living in Brooklyn. I feel like so much of it gets chalked up to luck...

Woah this is an overwhelming amount of advice. There's a good amount of takeaways here, but my main action item is to continue to research different regions on my own. Everyone, thank you all for the help here! Best of luck to you all on your RE endeavors. :)

Hi all,

Newbie here from Brooklyn, NY. I've gone through some of the basics and determined that I'd like to start investing into a single-family home to buy & hold. Ultimately, my end goal is to learn enough about this so I can one day come back to Brooklyn and purchase a multi-family property. But last I checked, Rome wasn't built in a day. Or two.

In the simplest way I can ask- how do you pros determine a location? In my case, I have about 25K that I'm comfortably willing to invest. I'm considering somewhere in PA so I can drive out and see the areas on the weekends, but that's purely based on proximity. Also if there's any other regions you'd recommend in the north-east or mid-west, I'm all ears!

Thank you for your time,

Moosa

Hi all,

Hope everyone's well. Brooklyn NY native here. 24 years old working in Finance for about 3 years now.

I'm looking to begin my first real estate investment and could use any and all advice.

I've gone through some of the intro videos here on BP to get an understanding of the principles of real estate investing. But I'm sure I'll soak in a lot more from starting a convo and listening to you guys on how to begin. I have about 50k that I'm comfortable investing, but of course the first question we all have- how?  Is it worth starting here in Brooklyn? I know NYC is brutal for newbies to get started in real estate; with studio apartments costing an arm and a leg. Which is why I'm open to the idea of investing elsewhere.

And of course, if there's any particular readings/forums that you think may help, please pass them along. Thanks everyone for your time. Have a great week!

Hi all!

Brooklyn native here. I currently have a full time career in investment management. It's been a pretty enjoyable experience so far, but I'd like to begin thinking about investing into real estate. 2017 New Years Resolution starting early if you want to consider it that.

Anyway, I'm still very much in the research phase of understanding this colossal industry. I hope to meet as many of you possible and looking forward to hearing from you all. Have a great week.
