Hi guys. I just wanted to ask people for advice. I am planning to move to the Boston area. As you know It’s an expensive area to live in. I am thinking about getting a 2 or 3 family home and do house hacking. Now the idea is to avoid getting a jumbo a loan because of the higher down payment, so my price range is under 680,000$. I am thinking maybe getting something on the cheaper side and remodel it, (although I have zero experience in doing that and I don’t think the bank will give me extra money to do the remodeling). What would you guys do if you had to move to an expensive city to live in long term.

Thanks.

@Nicholas Parish thanks for your reply. At the moment it’s detroit because I live here and I have some understanding about the city. Maybe when I’m 10 properties in I’ll think about out of state investing.

Thanks!!

@Travis Biziorek thanks for your reply. I have actually been living in the Detroit area for the last 3yrs and seeing the ROI on SFH I think it's a good investment. But Like you said people are afraid of Detroit and there are reasons to be afraid. But Detroit is such a large city that every block is different. When you are saying it's a tightly knit group what do you mean by that?

Thanks!!

@Keyonte Summers

Thanks for your reply. You know I agree with you regarding building a team. That’s is definitely an option. My reasoning for turnkey is because I work full time, and I do not plan on leaving on my job. Now I agree one can work full time and still build a team so maybe that is a better option than a turnkey. But because of my work I wanted to explore the turnkey option, of course I’ve heard about the horror stories with turnkeys and that is why I asked for a recommendation. But thanks!

@Ahmed Elias

Hey Ahmed. Thanks for your post I am also looking in Detroit market. Did you end up doing business with any of the turnkey companies that you found.

Thanks.
