Thanks for the insight guys.  For the future if I wanted to go this route again to obtain a property is there something I should/can do on my own to check the title history prior to bidding without having to pay for title searches on every property I would be interested in a at sheriff's sale.

Hello Everyone,

I bought a single family home in Northwest Ohio through a sheriff sale.  They told me that the deed will be ready for me in a about six weeks.  I have never purchased a property this way before and took a chance this will be my first official flip and would like some guidance.  Do I just take the deed from the sheriff office (they are giving a sheriff's deed) to the county recorder? Should I (or perhaps should have before) have a title search done through a title office (I was quoted 175.00 and weeks time to do this). Or is it not necessary.   Should I get an attorney? any one in NW Ohio have recommendations? Any help and guidance is much apperciated
