A couple questions about a mutli family. Say Im going to buy a duplex and live in one side and rent out the other. If i create an LLC that owns it, do i have to pay rent to the LLC for living in one side? How does that work?

Well no. I would really like to get into it right away. Ive been reading all I can and have been getting advice from my father and others that are in the business. I have some extra cash and was not sure whether I should use it toward furthering my education, or use it to by some property. I think I would learn alot in one of these programs, but im not sure if the money I would spend would be worth it. All that money could be put toward a downpayment or a duplex or triplex. Im very passionate about learning and fully understanding something before I jump in and I guess im scared that I dont know enough to really get a grip on everything. But i think yall are right. Through reading several books, talking to people with knowledge on the subject, and learning by doing, I think I would be ok in the end. Thanks for your help.

I just graduated a year ago in Civil Engineering and was tossing around the idea of going back to school to get a Masters in Real Estate Development. My ultimate goal is to become an investor/developer. Does anybody have any opinions on whether or not it would be worth it to pursue this degree or would it be better to just start out at a development firm and go from there?
