That's a great idea. Do you think I can earn sufficient funds this way to begin buying properties? Also, how do you recommend I connect with an investor? Some of my family friends are investors, but I don't think I could work for them. But perhaps they know other people who would hire me.

Hi everyone,

Right now I am about to finish my last semester of college with a degree in music. I'm fortunate to have no student loans, and I am going to be okay financially for my basic needs until my career takes off. I have been researching RE investing for many months now, and this is a path I want to take.

The issue is that I need money to begin investing. I was considering doing a RE-related career, like appraisal, so that I can earn funds to start investing. Luckily I will have sufficient funds from my parents to start a such a stepping-stone career, but I need to choose wisely because there is only so much help they can give me. I have already seen on this forum that some people consider appraisal to be more trouble than it is worth as a career, given its 2000 hour trainee period. I'm also uncertain about the job market. I have heard the competition is pretty high.

I don't think my personality is suited for being an RE agent for various reasons. Does anybody have other ideas about how to get started? Does anybody know of decent "starter" careers in RE that could give me some knowledge that would come in handy when I do start investing, and also would help me raise funds?
