Post: Permit and inspection

Hello,

We just finished remodeling a house in the twin cities and we have an inspection to rent it.

The inspector said that we were not supposed to change the vanity and the outlet by ourselves. It should have been a plumber/electrician.

We hired a speciality contractor to do the rest.

Did anyone go through a similar situation? What are the fines?

@James Hamling Thank you for your reply.

There are not that many multi families in Shakopee from what  I saw.

My main concern here is that you have to go down 7 stairs to be in the main living area (living room/kitchen), the main window is a little bit small.

I would have a positive cash flow with the price they are asking for ($350,000/ was originally priced at $400,000). I am just worried if it would be difficult to sell it in the future if needed with the split level situation.

Hello,

I found a nice side by side duplex in the suburbs of Minneapolis.

The duplex is a split level. The main living area is on the first floor. You have to go down a few steps to get to it. The 2 bedrooms are upstairs.

Both apartments are currently rented, would this be an issue in the future to get tenants? Is it more difficult to sell?

It has been on the market since January. They had one offer but it fell through after inspection.

There are not multiple multi families in the area to compare it to. It is difficult to estimate the right price for it. The seller has lowered the price by $50,000 so far.

Thoughts?

Hello,

I own a rental property in MN but live in CA. I want to get a Heloc loan to purchase another property. Bank said that they cannot give it because I dont live in MN. Any idea who would be able to give a heloc loan?
