Thanks very much for all the thoughtful replies. I have posted a few time before and am amazed how quickly people respond with helpful info. Just to clarify Mark's reply. I am looking to have an inspector in place and not have to use the one my realtor suggests.  Seems like there would be an established relationship in place.                                                                                                        And yes Mark I am working (just emailing to date) with a realtor. He is also a K.W agent. I also know a K.W. agent in my area. Very professional group.    If it doesn't work out for some reason I will get hold of you

Hi

After over a year of planning I am finally going to WNC to look at investment rental properties. Am looking for a few recommendations for a home inspector. Don't want to use the one recommended by the realtor if possible. I am looking in the Asheville area south to the Hendersonville area. Not sure how far an inspector will travel so a few options are appreciated. Am also interested in a realestate attorney/CPA if anyone know a good one.

Thank very much in advance

Hi I am a nu-bee so this question might be naive. A property management company averages about 10% fee per month. On a $1200 rental that is $120. What can the company offer that is worth that amount of money per month. What do they do besides answer the phone. I cannot see them doing additional services without additional charges.

I realize I might be missing something so would appreciate some "schooling"

Thanks in advance

Hey to All. I have been visiting this site for a while and the wealth of info is amazing. I am interested in getting into rental real estate as a second half of life career in a state we are planning to move to in 2016. I have no actionable knowledge, other than reading books and this website so far and am trying to be productive while in my current area. I have the time and funds to take a pre-license real estate course next month. Wondering if a course like this is beneficial when perusing rentals or is it just geared toward getting your license which I probably not be acquiring.

Glad to be here and thank you for you input
