Chuck M. Hi chuck, I'd love to meet up and chat real estate. I've got 6 units in Modesto as well as 4 SFH in Indianapolis. I can tell you some stories of the good and bad of out of state investing as well as being an absentee landlord. All in all, it's definitely worth it in my opinion, but there sure are some mistakes I made that I'll never make again. I live in San Jose but can meet up anywhere. Cheers, Mike

@Monika V. I agree. Probably best to wait until the market cools off a bit and then re-evaluate.

@Ryan Landis It would great to talk with you further about this.

@Assaf Furman At the price point that most duplexes go for, I'd have to do conventional financing with 20% down. I realize this limits what I can do here. I'd like to talk with you further about wholesaling. That concept is interesting to me...Maybe coffee sometime?

Hi Everyone,

I'm got a few rental properties under my belt, but since I live in an extremely expensive market, I haven't been able to get into my own residence. I love the idea of house hacking where I buy a  duplex and live in one side and rent out the other. Anybody have any advice on the best approach for this? San Jose is insane right now so most of the inventory is out of reach ($1 million +). I would love to talk with anyone who may have a lead on an off market property or any other creative solution. I'm also looking in the surrounding communities (Morgan Hill, Campbell, Santa Clara, etc)Thanks!

Mike

I second the recommendation for Larry Tuell. He has represented my family in three transactions (parents, sister, and brother) and they all have nothing but great things to say about him!

Nice work on the paid off properties! I agree with @Dylan Vargas that you should be the one giving advice. I've got three properties in Modesto as well and I'd love to hear your strategy on how you paid them off so quickly. I'm fairly new to this site as well, but the resources I've already found are unbelievable. Good luck with everything!

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to do some deals in the Tacoma area. I'm from there originally and my family still lives there so I know the market fairly well, but I was hoping to chat with some folks that have done deals and can shed some insider light on the market/rents/etc. I live in San Jose, CA so I'd be interested in joint ventures/partnerships. I prefer buy and hold deals, but flips are appealing to me as well. Any interest?

Thanks,
 Mike

Hi Jo-Ann,

I've been looking at turn-key properties in Indianapolis since everything is so expensive here in the Bay Area. There's some good cash flow opportunities out there, but I'd really like to do more here in San Jose. I've always wanted to get into the flipping game so that my main area of focus right now. Kind of intimidating, but I'm finding some good resources here on BiggerPockets!

Hi Everyone,

I'm a part time real estate investor from San Jose, CA, investing primarily in buy and hold multi-family properties. I currently have 3 duplexes in my portfolio and am looking to branch out with flips and bigger multi family properties. I'm looking forward to meeting and talking with you all!

Thanks,

Mike
