Quote from @Daniel K.:

Is this a 2 bedroom apartment that is currently being leased (in the eyes of the CHA) as a 1 bedroom apartment? If so, you will need to apply for a change of number of bedrooms on the standard CHA rent increase form. They will schedule an inspection to verify that the second bedroom does in fact exist in the apartment.

I am not sure, I believe it’s because this apartment is only being rented by one person on the lease.

Good afternoon I have a question in regards to my section 8 tenant. I was thinking of starting a rent increase for my 1 bedroom tenant voucher due it being low and well under fair market value(Based on  hud and zip code) but my tenant is in the process of having a caretaker for her disability and getting approved for a two bedroom voucher. My question will be if she gets approved will the rent go up automatically to fair market value? Or if I should wait until she receives a 2nd bedroom voucher then do the rent increase since I heard you can only do one a year.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hey @Miguel Vasquez, welcome to the BP Forum! Best thing is to call the housing authority that manages the voucher program in your city/county.

Thank you, I know it’s such a hassle to get a straight answer from them!
