Hello,
We hired a contractor to frame and drywall our basement. We have concrete walls. There is a electrical box in the corner and a crawl space that was framed around.
The crawl space framing was framed without full access to the crawl space. There is about a quarter of space blocked by the framing/2×4. The contractor says they cannot expand the opening because it wouldnt pass inspextion because the 2×4 has to be so many feet apart from each other. This cannot be the case. How can we fully access our crawl space? I would think you would frame it out the same way you would a window.
Also, the crawl space and electrical box was not framed like a window. Once the doors go on the drywall to access the crawl space and electrical box, when you open the door you will see in between the walls. This doesn't seem right, plus it will allow air to enter every time we access these spaces. To me it makes sense to frame the crawl space and electrical box on all four sizes like a window. What do you think?
