@Lisa Wood, being that the original post was 3 years ago have you made any progress toward your goal?

I find myself in the same situation. I live paycheck to paycheck at a dead end job with no savings and very much want to be a professional investor. I never gamble, play lottery, etc. as some suggested. I've read a bunch of books, listen to podcasts and so forth.

I'm in the process of trying to figure out how to start flipping, or buy and hold or something with no money down (no savings), my life style is cut very slim, no room for extras. I'm extremely frugal. I don't want to lead us to financial demise but also can't sit on the side lines forever.

I'm curious to see what you've done with this.

Thanks!

My question is, did @Paul OConnell give Luiz $1,000,000 as mentioned? Lol

Newbie here. I will at sometime in the near future begin real estate investing. I'm currently working in an unrelated field working paycheck to paycheck and not able save any money. I am considering a career change to something in the RE world, but I have no experience, first of all, and no money to pay for any formal education. I am working on coming up with some sort of side hustle or some means to make more money, pay down debt, and start setting aside money for investing.

My thought for the career change is hopefully a pay increase, but also a way to gain first hand knowledge while earning income and building my portfolio.

My questions are this:

1) Would making a career change to RE be advisable?

2) If so, any suggestions as to what avenue?

Thanks!

Michael

One more vote for Never Split the Difference. I also watched an interview with Chris Voss on LondonReal.tv ("Chris Voss - Mastering the Art of Negotiation.") He speaks a lot to how he got where he is and what makes his negotiating different. He was the FBI's lead international hostage negotiator for several years. Now he's taken it to the business world.

@Brandon Proctor @Matt Lowery Hello. I know this is an old post but I find myself in the same situation you were a few years ago. I want to ultimately be an investor. However, while I lack funds, I'd like to at least start a new career in the RE world. (currently working a paycheck to paycheck job in an unrelated field) Did either of you make head way on this? Did you find it was a good path? Why or why not? If it didn't work out or ended up not being necessary, do you have any other recommendations on where to start?

Thanks for any advice you might have!
