Hello Dusin Gordon welcome to BP... House hacking is the best way to start for a newbies. I house hacked in my first home and I was able to save some money to purchase my second property. I'm currently house hacking in my second property to save money for another investment property. If you do have time listen to BP podcasts... I wish you all the best and I am here if you need assistance in the future...

Welcome to BP Tyler Woodson ... To advance your learning on real estate investing listen to the podcasts. I've learn so much from podcast success and failure stories. I do invest in the Des Moines area near Iowa state fair ground (I generate extra cash during the state fair). Let me know if you need helps.

No I'm not renting out the basement Andrew Hall and Jd Martin because it does not have a full window(small window). According to Iowa's laws to renting out basement to tenant(s) it need a full/good side window to escape just in case of fire. In addition, unfinished basement when I bought the 3bedrooms house. I built the one bedroom myself in the basement( poor job on my part) .  One of tenant leasing it for $20 per month for store her extra stuff. According to Zillow app I can rent out 3 bedrooms for $1000/month...

On the new purchased, according to my montgage agreement on the two bedrooms house I have to live there for a year ( and make it my primary resident).

Thanks Andrew Hall and Jd Martin for y'all input. I real appreciate it.

Hello BiggerPockets users,

First thanks to biggerpockets' podcast. Love listening to real estate success stories. On the other hand, I just purchase my second investment property (2 bedrooms and a bathroom) on December 30, 2017 and this house is right across the street from my other property (3 bedrooms and two full baths). Both my properties are in the Des Moines area. When I was in the 3 bedrooms house I  was house hacking. I was sleeping in the basement while I rented out my rooms out. Example I was renting out the room for $300 per bedroom (total rental income was $900 per month and my montage payment is $756). Yes I was living for free. I recently increase the rent and it's renting for total income on the 3 bedrooms house is $1440.00 per month ($600 each for two big rooms and $440 for the smaller bedroom). But I am currently paying for all the utilities and I manage it myself. I work full time and my tenants are super cool because they helps me clean the property. Recently I been thinking about renting out the 3 bedrooms house to a single family or should I keep it as it is now renting? I now live in the two bedrooms house across the street. What'd you do in this situation?

Thanks in advance

I'll do my best to be there. I'm adding this to my to-do list for this week. FYI, this will be my first real estate investment meet up for me because I'm a newbie in RE.

Hello everyone, I'm Michael and new to property investment. I been listening to podcasts(almost all of them), honestly I like them, and it's helping me on the path to real estate investment. I Currently own a three bedrooms house. The three bedrooms are full with tenants. I do sleep in my living room. Yes I'm "house hacking" to save money to purchase my next property. I'm very happy to be part of this wonderful neighborhood(BIGGER PICKET).
