Your post struck a cord because I can see how real estate could make a big difference in peoples lives in the inner city and I'm about exploring how to do just that.

The first thing I do recognize is that to do anything I must make enough money to continue investing but I won't do so if I am not helping people. So my mantra is: help and make money doing it.

You would be wise for checkout Willamson's website, there is a host of good information there.

I've lived here all my life and had never heard of Greater Downtown Detroit. The best I could say would be everything inside the Blvd.

I own a house in the NW and I can testify to its spottiness. My house sits where the block clubs remained active through the tough times. There are still houses that are empty but, for the most part, they are hard to recognize because they are taken care of by neighbors. Sometimes the empty houses look better than the lived in ones.

Unfortunately, you can go a mile away and it looks like a bomb hit. 

In general, from the Lodge above Six mile to Woodward is where there are great houses. 

People think of Detroit as a place for cash flow but I don't see it. There are way too many houses competing for too few people. The deal in Detroit is appreciation. This is especially true in the 48202 zip.

This is the area I'm looking in. The area that is below Grand Blvd is the midtown area and it is getting very expensive and, for the most part, it's apartments.

Above the Blvd and up to Boston, however, are streets filled with wondrous houses. It's my belief that in the future these houses will be highly valued.

I'm looking to rehab a multi - family home to both live in and provide for relatives, who have Section Eights, a stable and supportive environment.

It's important to be near Woodward so they'll still have mobility without the cost of a car.

I also have another house in Detroit which I will sell to help finance the whole thing.

Hope this makes sense.
