Thanks Mary,

It's 7 years from the date you file, so 2 years after you've paid it off. I did chapter 13. I'm 4 years into it and my credit score is in the low 7's so I've worked really hard to repair and rebuild my credit. I'm looking forward to real estate investing I just have a lot to learn, as you suggested,

Hi Chris,

I don't remember exactly what he said but it was something alone the lines of: it would be best to be out of it before investing. Solely based on how hard it is to get a loan. Although I got a loan to buy a home while in bankruptcy it was a lengthy drawn out process. I had to qualify for a loan, get the approval of the courts, then come up with enough down payment. It was a headache, but it's doable. Bottom line, if I can raise enough money, I don't need a loan!!

Thank you.....that's a huge help since I don' t have a lot of time left in bankruptcy I can use that time studying and learning the techniques I need to start once this is all over.

Brand new to real estate investing so forgive my ignorance. Is it possible to start investing in real estate while in bankruptcy? I have a year left and have never missed a payment. I want to get started but can't find anything on bankruptcy and investing in real estate. Thanks in advance for your help.
