Hi all!

I recently signed up for my pre-licensure classes in order to obtain my PA real estate license and wanted to start getting recommendations on good brokers to get affiliated with in the Philadelphia area. Does anyone have suggestions of a broker that allowed them to hang their license for a nominal fee or a barter of services in this area? My intention is to use the real estate license for my own personal use and not to become a practicing salesperson for retail buyers.

Thanks in advance,

Post: Is it Normal for Contractors to Request...?

@Danielle J.

These requests seem odd. I am not sure about the market you live in, but I have never had to pay for gas for a contractor or evaluation fees in order to get a bid and I have received many bids in the past from a host of different subs.

Another item to consider: if your contractor can't afford gas to come do a bid, he may lack liquidity and cash to perform his services without coming to you with his hand out.

@Brandon Turner

Thanks Brandon, I've already downloaded the UBG and  have been plowing through it. I heard you and  @Joshua Dorkin talk about it so much on the podcast that I had to take a look.

Hello all,

I've been listening to the Bigger Pockets Podcasts for a little while now and finally decided to join the community and begin to contribute. My fiance and I recently moved to West Chester, PA about a month ago. We are originally from the Boston area and only moved to Pennsylvania last year. We are looking to connect with folks to network and just make new friends in the area.

I have been interested in real estate for a long time, always searching for opportunities. We moved to West Chester after I purchased a duplex to live in. The property was cash-flowing upon purchase, but we decided to move in and subsidize our housing expenses instead of just renting it out. So far, so good! Currently, I am looking for investment opportunities in the Philadelphia and suburban areas for single family and small multi-family properties. The goal is to eventually generate about $15K of passive monthly income in order to get away from the rat race.

Please feel free to reach out!

Thanks,

Mason
