Quote from @Doug Smith:

I know a lot of people do long distance investing, but the only time we ever seem to take a hit is when we don't have good boots on the ground...meaning people we can trust that are local. We used to invest all over the Midwest and the Southeastern US, but we found we performed much, much better when we knew we had resources in the area to fall back on. Our real estate investment arm primarily stays in certain areas of Florida these days where we know we have contractors and agents that we've worked with before nearby. For us, we've found it makes all the difference in the world. So to answer your question, I would recommend getting a great, experienced team in the area(s) you invest in that you can trust.

Thanks for your quick reply, Doug. Definitely will keep this in mind.

Thanks for your quick reply, Doug.

Hi BP Forum,

I am studying long-term rentals through long-distance investing atm. Wondering if anyone else is doing this from overseas and can give some tips on how to get started.

Best!
