Thanks. I have that option right now but my loan is through Naca.  I'm not sure if you've heard of it but it's a very long, rigorous process. Rolling the renovations into the mortgage would be allowed but apparently they pay the contractors directly and it's a long process there as well. I can't really afford  for the renovations to take too long which is why I am considering a separate loan outside of them.

I am purchasing my first home which is a three family.  I will be living in one unit and renting the other two.  While the house is in good shape, I would like to renovate three bathrooms and two kitchens.  What is the best way to finance this work?  I’m assuming $50K - $70K.

@Ray Smith- I'm in LI too-  Freeport actually.  Can you provide details on the monthly meetup in Westbury? Thanks!

Hi there-

I am interested to become a landlord.  Has anyone considered properties outside of your state?  I am in NY and rentals here are insane but also very expensive to get into.  I am interested in properties in FL, New Orleans, NC.  Am I crazy for considering hiring a management company for maintenance and being an off site landlord?  I appreciate any and all comments! Thanks
